Auralex, we would place substantially sized acoustic absorption panels in the room to stop the reverberant reflection and make the piano sound as beautiful as it should, and record equally well. I also mentioned SonicPrint Panels, acoustic panels that can be customized with client-supplied artwork. In this case, of course, beautiful views seemed just the thing.
Once we had the panels made, we carefully stood them against the walls of the piano room. They really worked! Measured and observed RT60 reverb time in the space was improved by more than 50%, particularly around the room’s natural resonance near 1000 Hz. The beautiful piano now sounds beautiful in the beautiful room, and we have beautiful views as well, thanks to the SonicPrint Panels. Some day, when the permanent piano room is ready, we will move the panels in there. Life is beautiful!
